Policy on AI use for JOVACET
1. Purpose
This policy ensures transparency, integrity and accountability for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools during the research, writing and publication process.
2. Scope
Applies to all authors, reviewers and editors involved in submissions to JOVACET.
3. Acceptable Uses of AI
- Language and style support: AI tools may be used to improve grammar, clarity and structure.
- Data analysis assistance: AI may be used for statistical analysis, image-processing or data visualisation provided methods are fully described.
- Idea Generation: AI may assist in brainstorming or outlining, but final intellectual contributions must be human-led.
4. Prohibited Uses of AI
- Generating fabricated, falsified or plagiarised data or text.
- Using AI to create content without proper human oversight, acknowledgement of sources and verification.
- Submitting AI-generated text or figures without full disclosure.
5. Disclosure Requirements
Authors must clearly state in the manuscript’s Acknowledgements section:
- The AI tool(s) used (name, version, provider).
- The specific purpose and extent of AI involvement.
- Confirmation that all content has been reviewed and approved by the authors.
6. Authorship and Accountability
- AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
- Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy, originality and ethical compliance of all content, including AI-assisted sections.
7. Peer Review and Editorial Use
- Reviewers and editors may use AI for grammar checks or workflow efficiency but not for confidential content analysis without consent.
8. Compliance and Consequences
Failure to disclose AI use or misuse of AI tools may result in rejection, retraction or reporting to relevant institutions.
9. Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed annually to reflect evolving AI capabilities and ethical standards.
